UPDATE: As the title states, Best Vape Pens for Concentrates, I felt in imperative to update this article and add the Puffco Plus to the mix. When comparing the Puffco+ to any of the vape pens below, I have to say that the completely sealed, coil-free chamber on the Puffco Plus gives this pen the TOP PICK status. I got clouds of tasty vape draw after draw with no fuss at all, click here to read the full review on the Puffco Plus.
Right so it’s about that time where we compare and test 3 of the best vape pen for concentrates that the market has to offer in 2017 namely the Aurora by Dr. Dabber, Galaxy by KandyPens and the new Puffco Pro 2.
Dr. Dabber Aurora
The Dr. Dabber Aurora is a low-temperature vaporizer which means that the coil will not instantly glow red while holding the power button down but instead it will reach ideal temperature only after 3 to 4 seconds. This preserves flavor and spares your throat from harsh heat.
Just looking at this pen I can see the design was thought out, the pen is comfortable to hold and easy to prepare.
The 3 main components are held together magnetically, not to tight and not to lose – just right to allow for quick and easy preparation yet still sturdy enough not to come apart in your pocket. However it is not without play – leaving me to wonder how durable it will be.
With 3 different atomizers she certainly stands out from the rest, giving you the choice on what you as the user would prefer as well as what would work better in terms of your oil’s viscosity. This feature is pretty cool since the options do make a difference. The 3 atomizers are,
1. Dual Quartz Rods, this is the most popular and best performing, the 2 quartz rods are wrapped in titanium wire coils.
2. Dual Ceramic Rods, a hybrid as you have the 2 ceramic rods wrapped in titanium coils inside a quartz chamber.
3. Ceramic Disk or Halo, Concentrates never touch the wire inside the disk, allowing for easier cleaning.
All chambers are lined with quarts for ultimate flavor. The max capacity of the Aurora is roughly 0.5g of concentrates which is more than enough for a session but advised to use less, less is more after all. As most vape pens for herbal concentrates, there are 3 heat settings. After testing on low heat the vape production lacked a little bit, though comfortable to draw I felt ever so slightly under satisfied on this one. With good flavor and certainly cool enough, the Aurora did deliver as visual vape is more psychological after all.
I give the Aurora a 3 out of 5 with the only lag’s being the magnetic hold with its durability and the vape production, although she certainly does produce tasty clouds.
Next we have the Puffco Pro 2
Now this is a very sexy sleek design, the Puffco Pro 2 has a stainless steel chassis and super light with excellent air flow. In addition to its sexy design the Puffco Pro 2 uses a single cloud button that lights up when activated and used to toggle through the different temperature settings, simple and elegant to the touch making it not only comfortable to hold but easy to use.
Testing on low heat vape production was amazing and smooth. The flavor was by far the tastiest and lingered the longest. The inhale to exhale was cool and flavorful, definitely left me wanting more! A must have to any collection.
The Puffco Pro 2 has a large ceramic oven with single ceramic coil, free of plastic, fibers and glue. Effortless and trouble-free to clean, due to its tapered design and removable splash guard which is made from food safe silicone. I really enjoyed puffing on this one and currently one of my top picks and personal favorites as an all rounder, she certainly did deliver.
Using the Puffco Pro 2 is really straightforward, 5 clicks on & 5 clicks off with 3 temperature settings that are simple to alternate through; Green for low, Blue for medium and White for high. What’s more there is a really neat feature, the Puffco’s highly acclaimed “sesh-mode” that will instantly generate 12 seconds of continuous vapor without needing to press the button.
The enhanced battery life allows you to enjoy its great taste for days before needing a charge with up to 100 uses per charge and charges in one hour, differently a win here.
Overall I give the Puffco Pro 2 a 5 out of 5, for its super sleek design and tasty clouds of bliss!
Last we have the Galaxy by KandyPens
From first draw to last grin the Galaxy KandyPens is amazing, great flavor, LARGE clouds and one hell of a kick in just a short 5 sec draw. I found this pen to be slightly harsh and heavy on the chest, though flavor and airflow was remarkable. The design of the Galaxy is very aesthetically pleasing while slightly on the heavy side.
As we all know quartz atomizers are quickly becoming popular for their great taste and awesome look, unlike ceramic and fiber wicks it doesn’t absorb your concentrates, so the rods don’t turn dark or get that burnt look or taste. The KandyPens Galaxy atomizer is full quartz, quartz crystal lined chamber with dual quartz rods this tasty vape won’t disappoint; tested on low heat the first draw, unexpectedly knocked my socks off.
From beginner to experienced vaper you will be happy with this one. You can pack her up in the morning and puff away all day, unless your tolerance is massive, you won’t have to worry about an empty chamber or dead battery. Battery life will give you roughly 70 sessions based on the temperature you puff on and is fully charged in 2-3 hours.
Like most vape pens powering on is as simple as 5 clicks on, 5 clicks off. There are 3 different temperature settings, red for low, green for medium and blue for high. I prefer low as the Galaxy kicks out massive clouds and on high settings can be a bit harsh.
So my overall rating for the KandyPens Galaxy is 4 out of 5; from design to vape production to flavor with the only drawback on its slight harshness but overall performs really well.
Final thoughts
At the end of our testing and we’ve inspected each atomizer’s chamber: when using the same amount of concentrate in each oil vaporizer and after having had 3 hits per vape, we’ve noticed that the Puffco Pro 2 as well as the Galaxy had very little oil left unused at the bottom of the chamber while the Aurora had a considerable amount left behind, which would result in a longer session time.
If I had to pick one I would certainly go for the Puffco Pro 2 because it offers a good balance between vapor quality (flavor and quantity) and vapor’s coolness in your throat.
If you own or have ever tried any of these amazing concentrate vape pens please comment your experience and overall rating, I would love to hear what my fellow community think.
For now, happy vaping all!

Puffco Pro 2 really stands out in terms of taste and smoothness. The sesh mode is a game-changer for sure, no need to keep pressing the button. Aurora\'s flavor is decent but I felt like the vape production on low heat wasn’t as strong as I hoped. Galaxy by KandyPens has killer clouds, but it can be a bit harsh. Overall, Puffco Pro 2 seems to be the most balanced, especially with its sleek design and long battery life. But if you prefer larger clouds, the Galaxy might be your pick.
